Why Madinah is so famous among Muslims

Madina is the most sacred city for Muslims after Makkah that is seen by millions of individuals for at least a million years now. The town is also known as Taibah or Yathrib and gain relevance when Holy Prophet P.B.U.H. choose this city as His settling place when migrating from Makkah. Umrah is the best opportunity to explore the holy city while booking cheap Umrah packages.

Since then, the sacred city held particular importance and significance in the hearts of Muslims scattered throughout the world. Masjid e Quba, the first-ever mosque built in Islamic background and the renowned Masjid e Nabwi are also located in the city of Madina.

Prophet’s Mosque after the Haram Sharif in Makkah is the most visited place of worship from Muslims. The Holy Prophet (P.B.U.H.) called this city as His (P.B.U.H.) home.

History of migration of Prophet (P.B.U.H.) towards Madinah

Originally the name of Madina was Yathrib, an oasis city dating back in the 6th century B.C.E. From the 3rdcentury when war happens between Jews and Romans, many Jews move from Jerusalem and migrated to their ancestral location Yathrib. However, the community survived and continues living.

At the time when Holy Prophet migrated towards Madina, there were large numbers of Jews from the city. Prophet P.B.U.H. encouraged all of the people in the city and provided the message of the true religion of Islam. Most of the individuals thankfully consented to Him, but He faced difficulty compelling Jews which Islam is the real version of Judaism.

Location of Madinah

Muslims thought that Madina is an eternally blessed city as Allah Almighty picked its ground as the final resting place for His Apostle, Muhammad S.A.W.W. Located nearly 250 km east of the eminent Red Sea, in North-Western Saudi Arabia and generally called Madina al Munawrah.

At the time of Prophet P.B.U.H., the whole town was roughly the size of the current Masjid along with the neighbouring white tiled area. Allah S.W.T. bestowed the favourite city of His Messenger using very fertile soil and plenty of water sources. These blessings create the ancient city a stunning desert oasis surrounded by arid and rocky mountains from three sides.

Hadiths About the city of Madinah

Hazrat Anas RA narrated that; Muhammad S.A.W.W. stated, “For the follower, Madina is your excellent spot in the world. Only if they might realize its merit, they’d never leave it and whoever departs from this city, becoming embittered by it. Allah Almighty will send someone better to replace him. And whoever stands patiently the ordeals of Madina, for him shall I be an arbitrator about the Day of Resurrection”.

Hazrat Abu Bakr R.A. and Bilal RA fell sick, and Prophet S.A.W.W. worried about the illness of His companions and said, “O Allah, make this city (Madina) conducive to health and bless us in its own sa’ and mudd”.

According to another Hadith

“There will not be any other place in the world except Makkah and Madina in which Ad-Dajjal won’t enter. There will be no entering, but the angels will be standing in rows protecting it against him, and then Madina will wobble with its populaces thrice, and Allah will yank all of the non-believers and the charlatans out of it”.

Why Madina is so different and unique

During the period of Prophet Muhammad P.B.U.H., Madina al Munawrah has been the leading centre of commerce and trade because of its vicinity to natural trade routes and the route connecting with the Syrian and Egyptian markets.

The city is genuinely ancient, enriched with exceptional civilization and great history spanning thousands of years before the Prophet Isa A.S. the multicultural populace is why Madina is so different and unique.

According to the latest Saudi Arabia rules and regulations, non-muslims can’t enter in the state of both Makkah and Madinah. Muslims can visit this sacred city at any time but in my opinion, booking cheap hajj packages and visiting Madinah will have worth.
